Attacking Basics

I’ve got a little routine that has been working for me.

  1. Copy your own kingdom page, throne room, military advisor, internal advisor, and science page.
  2. Copy the target’s kingdom page.
  3. Take a CB.
  4. Take a SoM if there are elites that may have been sent.
  5. Take a Survey if you suspect Guard Stations.
  6. Use Angel’s Military Calculator to determine the correct amount to send.
  7. Cast Quickfeet (if possible), Warspoils (if landgrabbing), Minor Protection, and Town Watch (if possible).

For non-freaks attacking non-freaks, 4% oversend is what you want. When you have adjusted your amount to send correctly in the Calculator, the bar in the middle will turn green. For freaks attacking similar net worth non-freak targets or for non-freaks attacking similar net worth freaks oversend 7%. If bottom-feeding or top-feeding you may want to oversend as much as 10%. Freaks attacking freaks may want to oversend by up to 17% to be safe.

Utopia Angel

This is a must. It has a built in formatter and many good calculators including the very important Military Calculator. The Utopia Temple site also has an active forum and strategy posting area.

Utopiapimp

Utopiapimp has seen better days. But it is still very helpful. Post your own intel and any intel from potential targets so that your kingdom can coordinate easier. Utopiashrimp is the p.c. version.

Metatron

This is a great Firefox extension. It formats pages in Utopia itself and is customizable.

Utopia Wiki

This is a good site for formulas and learning the actual game mechanics.

Utopia Simulator

This program has it’s problems. Most notably for me, it tends to forget the freak population bonus. But it’s the best at what it does. Very helpful for planning protection.

Crystal Ball

Before even attempting this spell copy the target’s kingdom page to your Angel clipboard. This will allow Angel to estimate thieves and wizards based on net worth.

Spy on Military

Start by copying a saved CB to you clipboard. Taking a fresh CB is even better. Only use 8 thieves to spy on military. Usually, Angel will be able to determine the exact state of the target’s military by combining CB and SoM data. If Angel is unable to translate the SoM, take another. If this still does not work, paste both SoMs into the tool at this site.

Crystal Eye

Cast this on a province near your net worth that has the lowest wpa. During war it is a good idea for the kingdom to take one every day and save it for comparison.

Age 37 Gnome Freak A/t Strategy

This is a full-elite army strategy. The first section is a summary of the stats. Second is an hour-by-hour protection strategy. Third is the detail breakdown of the population and strength numbers along with recommended spells. Fourth is the detail breakdown of the economy with spells. Fifth, there is a short science pump build. Lastly, I’ve included some tips for playing Freak successfully (without bouncing).I ran something very similar to this last age. The problem of population recovery turned out to be minor compared to gold problems. So I’ve added 50% more economic buildings, and I’ve gone with armouries instead of banks which are more efficient in this high non-peasant population. I’ve assumed 5.25 NW for elites along with MP and TW spells on defense, QF on attack, and FL and IA on constantly. The draft expenses assume $75 per soldier which is equivalent to a half-reservist, half-normal draft rate.

1 Summary

+40% Thievery Effectiveness
50% Cost of Thieves
+10% Population
Large randomness in all attacks
Every 7 Elites take up the population space of only 6 peasants
5/5 Elite – $300

-15% Birth Rates
No Access to Hospitals

32.95 Pop/acre, 67% Draft
10 Peasants – 89% BE
18.95 Elites – .42 Opnw, .3 Dpnw, and 80.7 Opa, 57.6 Dpa (or .365 Opnw, .35 Dpnw, and 70.2 Opa, 67.2 Dpa)
3 Thieves – 7.166 Tpa
1 Wizard – 1.3 Wpa
11.5 hour attack time
